No refrigeration, no water and no chemicals needed.
We are the official Glice distributor for Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg.
We rent and sell synthetic ice rinks, curling lanes and ice hockey surfaces across the Benelux, from a mobile rink for an event or Christmas market to a permanent installation for a city, hotel or sports club. Why synthetic ice
The advantages of a Glice rink
Glides like real ice
On ordinary ice skates, with a glide close to natural ice.
No energy, water or chemicals
Fully ecological: no refrigeration unit, no water use, no additives.
Modular, any shape and size
From a compact corporate rink to a full-size track or curling lane.
Indoor and outdoor
Works on almost any surface, covered or in the open air.
All year round
Unaffected by temperature: skate in July just as well as in December.
Safe and dry
You don't get wet when you fall and the special top layer reduces slipping.

100% ecological
Skating fun without an ecological footprint
A Glice rink runs entirely without a refrigeration unit: no energy, no water, no chemicals. Where a classic ice rink brings a heavy energy and water bill, here you skate with a low CO₂ footprint, indoors and outdoors.
Why Glice
Why Glice is the better choice
Glice was independently tested by Germany's Fraunhofer Institute (IWM) and performs best in the sector: the lowest friction and the least blade indentation. So you glide more smoothly than on any other synthetic ice.

More routes than purchase
How do you finance the rink?
A rink does not have to be a straight purchase. Often a combination of routes covers a large part of the cost.
| Route | When it fits |
|---|---|
| Purchase | Long-term operation under your own management |
| Seasonal rental | A first edition or test project |
| Rent-to-own | Validate first, then become the owner |
| Subsidies | Sport, sustainability, tourism and community |
| Sponsoring and board advertising | Local visibility and naming rights |
| Donation for tickets | Involving local businesses and the community |

Frequently asked questions
Can you use ordinary ice skates?
Yes, Glice works with ordinary ice skates. There is nothing special to buy, and the low-friction surface is even gentler on the blades.
Does synthetic ice really glide like refrigerated ice?
The independent Fraunhofer Institute measured 52% lower friction on Glice than the best other synthetic ice tested, plus 45% less blade indentation and 6% less wear. As close to real ice as it gets today.
Does it also work in warm weather, indoors and outdoors?
Yes, synthetic ice is insensitive to temperature and works year round, indoors and outdoors. Refrigerated ice degrades above 10 °C, Glice stays consistent.
Can we rent a rink instead of buying one?
Both are possible. From a temporary rental for an event or Christmas market, from a few days to weeks, to a permanent installation for a club, hotel or municipality. Demand peaks from September to January, so book early.
What does a synthetic ice rink cost?
The price depends on the surface area, the period and the setup, such as boarding, skate rental, transport and installation. We make a tailored calculation for every project. Contact us for a quote for your town square or event.
How quickly is the rink installed, and is a permit needed?
The rink is installed in a few hours and needs no building permit. Glice rests on any flat surface, without a cooling system or piping.
How much space do I need?
We have installed rinks from 10 by 10 metres up to the largest in the world at 4,000 m². We are happy to think along with you to configure the ideal size for your town square, event or venue.
How much maintenance does it require?
Minimal. No cooling, no water. A daily pass with a cleaning machine by your own staff is enough, and the panels keep their glide properties.
Is it really ecological, and how much does it save?
Glice uses no electricity for cooling, no water and no CO₂ during operation. For comparison: a 400 m² square over 8 weeks on refrigerated ice uses roughly 35,840 kWh and 28,000 litres of water, and emits about 17.7 tonnes of CO₂. With Glice that is zero. Through its Skate for the Planet programme, Glice plants a tree for every panel produced, together with Trees for the Future (over 170,000 worldwide).
What warranty and lifespan does Glice have?
The 20 mm Glice Pro panels come with a 12 year warranty and a planned lifespan of 20 years, and they are reversible for longer use.
Where is Glice made?
Glice is Swiss designed and manufactured in the European Union to precise specifications.
Can you also curl on it?
Yes, curling and eisstock run on the same Glice technology. A popular format for corporate events, also combined with fondue.
Is Glice suitable for a Christmas market or winter event?
Yes, and it removes exactly the energy bill that made many towns and municipalities hesitate. No cooling, no water, quickly installed on your town square, indoors or outdoors.
Where can I test it myself?
At the test rink in Bruges, Kolvestraat 22. Bring your own skates and feel the difference for yourself.
Also possible
Curling on Glice
Besides rinks, we organise complete curling events on synthetic ice, the ultimate winter team-building activity for companies.
